Father’s Day: a tribute to Poggiopiano’s fathers

March the 19th, 2025 | On the occasion of Father’s Day we want to honour the two figures who gave life to our company as a family: Carlo and Alberto Galardi who built, step by step, what is now a solid and concrete reality as Fattoria di Poggiopiano.

Everything was born from a…project!

The history of Poggiopiano has its origins in the early 20th Century, when Carlo and Alberto Galardi decided to purchase Poggiopiano estate in 1935. Their strong passion for olive oil and wine production had already begun with the design and construction of mechanical equipment used in agriculture in their factory Officine Meccaniche Galardi in Florence.

Their vision, determination and passion allowed Poggiopiano to grow, evolving from a dream into a true extended family, not just working together, but sharing values and dreams from generation to generation.

These two men, in their role as founders, have been more than just entrepreneurs: they have been designers, creators, engineers, capable of transmitting not only skills, but also the dedication and love for their work that accompanies us every day.
Their work as designers and draughtsmen has found its greatest expression in the olive oil sector, with the production of absolutely innovative machinery such as the Supercentrifuga -Galardi patent-, a super-optimised centifuge and perhaps a forerunner of the modern Decanter, and the Lignotero -Galardi patent-, a crusher that finds modern evolution in the current olives’ crusher.

Fattoria di Poggiopiano from yesterday to today

At Poggiopiano, Carlo, Alberto and the entire Galardi family put their inventions to work and when, during World War II, the factory fell into disuse, too scarred by the war, it was the land of Poggiopiano that saved the family.
In 1985 Mauro Galardi, Carlo and Alberto’s grandson, gave Poggiopiano a further turn by looking ahead and far, towards sustainable and quality production, a vision that has brought us here today.
It is now 2025, when Mauro passes the baton to his daughter Martina in a generational transition that once again renews the values on which Fattoria di Poggiopiano has always been founded.

An extended family

On Father’s Day, we not only want to celebrate all inbred family fathers, but also the working family that the two brothers have been able to create. This company as a family grows, renews itself, but always remains united in the name of the same values that have been passed down to us and which we strive to respect every day.

Today more than ever, we are proud to carry on their legacy and continue to work together, as a family, to make their dream even greater!

Happy Father’s Day!!!
